And because I wanted to.
The time off was wonderful - except for those few days that one of my lovely family members decided that they should share their head cold with me... That was uncool. And I'm not pointing any fingers - but I'm looking pretty darn hard in my husband's direction...
So minus the one and a half days that my head felt like it would explode from the pressure, and the thoughts of "how can I cut my head off and live to tell about it" - I had a great time off - the weather was an extra [unexpected] bonus! There were a couple days that I didn't even wear a coat!
I spent a day with my Mom, did some shopping, did some things around the house that I've been wanting to get done, did some reading, B & I went to a Creighton game, I met friends downtown for a sushi lunch one day, I went to lunch with B another day, I spent quality time with the puppies, we played, we cuddled, we went for walks... Boy are they going to be upset when I have to go back to work.
New Year's Eve was fun - we must be getting old - because we had a tough time staying up until midnight for the smooch. We did it though!!
We went to 5:00 mass, followed by drinks & dinner, and we were home before 10:00, and finished our evening at home. We decided long ago that we would spend our New Year's with just each other - the New Year is about us - and we have kept it that way ever since.
Simple. Meaningful. Exclusive.
2011 was a great year, we had so much fun - here's looking at 2012 - anxious to see what it has to bring. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy my last day of doing whatever I darn well please.
