Leaves...

I raked my lawn today - on January 8th - without a coat on.

I cannot get over the fact that it is so unseasonably warm - but all that aside...

What on earth made me wait until January to rake the leaves in my yard, you ask???

Laziness.

Pure and simple laziness.

That's not entirely true... But it IS mostly true...

The leaves on my trees don't fall until the absolute last day possible, and then it typically snows within the week, after all of the leaves are down. And then raking is out of the question.

So what is my excuse this year??? I think I made that perfectly clear just a few sentences back. L a z i n e s s . . . . .

I put it on Facebook, I asked neighbor kids, I tried to pay a kid to do it. Not one bite. Actually, that's not true - I had one from Topeka, KS try to talk his Dad into driving him up to Omaha so he could do it. One kid!!! Boy how times have changed since I was a kid... At least fourteen kids would have been fighting for the opportunity to earn some cash by raking leaves. Okay, maybe four - I did grow up in the country... Oh who am I kidding?? We would have had to do it for free!

I should have hired someone to do it like I did last year - I can already foresee how I will be handling this task in the fall of 2012.
